Hi Everyone and Happy Lunar New Year, the year of the snake! We had a great time yesterday wandering around town enjoying the sights, sounds and tastes of the day. From following the dragons visit the businesses of Granville Island Public Market to exploring the tiny shops of Chinatown adorned in red and gold New Year’s decorations. We admired the building murals painted by Arthur Cheng just off Keefer Street, and of course had to make the mandatory stop at Hon’s for potstickers and noodles. If you didn’t have a chance to take in any the offerings yesterday you can join in the celebrations next weekend in Chinatown with the New Year’s Parade and events at the International Village. The Year of the Snake portends 12 months of good business and sound finances. The snake is an “enigmatic character, subtle, refined and intuitive”.

I loved some of the retro/kitschy new years decorations for sale in Chinatown!

Find your year of birth and which animal is represented, the characteristics are eerily close to home!

The fantastic potstickers from Hon’s…find them at Hon’s in Chinatown, on Robson in Vancouver and in Richmond…YUM!
